COLIBRI360

Drone-base EMAT thickness gauge

Safe and Efficient

360-degree inspection enabled

COLIBRI360 - inspection system that obtain UT measurements of metal structures using EMAT technology.

Unique design of the COLIBRI360 allows perform inspection of surfaces under any angle - Mast with EMAT sensor rotates on 180 degrees and allows to position sensor parallel to surfaces.

COLIBRI360 Main advantages

Patented system with sensor located on rotary mast. That allows to measure any inclined, horizontal and vertical surfaces (Patent is pending)

Measurement system and copter control integrated in one device. This allows to fly copter and take measurement with only 1 pilot.

Intuitive data management software that allows store and share data. Possible integration with customer’s software.

EMA UT gauge has significant advantages over Piezo UT gauge. See comparison in the table.

Drone has 360 degrees sensors coverage that allows protect him from collisions. Our drone is sate for others.

The compact size of the drone allows comfortably use it both outdoors and indoors.

The drone is transported assembled and does not require preparation for flight. Just plug and fly.

The optical stabilization system allows to fly indoor where GPS signal is not available. The drone does not use a compass for navigation and has immune to magnetic interferences.

The drone equipped with lighting system to fly in low visibility conditions.

Ultrasonic
thickness
measurement

EMAT generates ultrasonic waves on the surface of inspected material and doesn’t require strong contact  between sensor and surface in comparison with Piezoelectric method

Piezoelectric transducer – ultrasonic waves generate in crystal
and transmits to test material via media (couplant)

Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) - ultrasonic waves  generate in the test material through interaction of  the two magnetic fields

Mode of operation

The Colbri360 inspection system design to perform UT inspection on industrial objects. All controls - drone navigation and integrated UT gauge, performs from one console. Video from camera and UT measurements transmit from drone to the console and shared with inspector in real time.

Inspector observes inspection area from drone’s camera and UT measurements on his tablet.

Inspector can transmit UT measurements to Data center for validation in real time (if connectivity available)

Images/Video/UT measurements transmits from drone to console and to inspector’s tablet.

Pilot controls drone and EMAT gauge from one console

Colibri360 take off and perform visual and UT inspection.

Average flight time up to 18 min. After back to take-off point to replace battery and resume inspection

Algorithm of deployment (example)

Inspector and pilot arrives to location. Drone doesn't require any assembling, it takes only 5 min between arrival to location and ready to take off

Once flight pre-check completed drone take-ff and start inspection

Drone approach to the surface that need to be inspected. Sensor connects to the surface and performs thickness measurment

Video and Measurements data transmits from drone to pilot's console and inspector. When inspection completed, pilot upload video in 1080P format from drone

Battery replaced to new one when critical low level reaches. Deplited battery put on charger. This step repeats till inspection completed.

Inspection completed drone packed and crew moves to next location

DRONE-BASE EMAT THICKNESS GAUGE is a cutting-edge technology that combines the power of drones and electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMAT) to accurately measure the thickness of various materials. This innovative device offers a non-destructive testing method that is efficient, precise, and time-saving.

The DRONE-BASE EMAT THICKNESS GAUGE utilizes the advanced capabilities of drones to access hard-to-reach areas with ease. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, it can quickly scan the surface of the material and capture detailed images. These images are then analyzed by the EMAT sensors, which emit ultrasonic waves to penetrate the material and measure its thickness. With its autonomous flight capabilities, the DRONE-BASE EMAT THICKNESS GAUGE can navigate complex environments and perform inspections in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods. It is especially useful in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure maintenance, where accurate thickness measurements are crucial for ensuring structural integrity and safety.

The data collected by the DRONE-BASE EMAT THICKNESS GAUGE is instantly transmitted to a user-friendly interface, allowing operators to analyze and interpret the results in real-time. This efficient workflow minimizes downtime and enables quick decision-making for maintenance or repair actions. In addition to its accuracy and efficiency, the DRONE-BASE EMAT THICKNESS GAUGE also offers cost savings by reducing the need for manual inspections, scaffolding, and other traditional measurement techniques. Its versatility and adaptability make it an invaluable tool for various industries, providing reliable and precise thickness measurements for a wide range of materials.

Investing in the DRONE-BASE EMAT THICKNESS GAUGE means embracing the future of non-destructive testing. With its advanced technology and capabilities, it revolutionizes the way thickness measurements are performed, making inspections safer, faster, and more accurate than ever before.
